Push to finish the Lake Loop Trail
Working to finish the Lake Loop Trail new alignment project
We are heading into the fall so we are losing our weekday volunteer hours where we concentrated on maintenance of the existng trails. We are now going to focus our energy again on finishing the new alignment for the Lake Loop Trail.
We've talked about this trail before but we are getting close to finishing the rest of this challenging project. As I've said before, one of the things making it harder is the goal of keeping a wide and easy path to travel. Building narrow steep trails is much easier. The great news is that the end is in sight and the trail that has been built and will be built is going to be a huge bonus for those that make it to the dam.
The next several work days through the fall and end of the year are going to focus on removing the thick chaparral and vegetation that is in the line of the new trail construction. We plan to finish this part of the project just in time for the rain to make the soil soft enough to dig the trail itself in the late winter and spring. With luck and a lot more help from everyone out there including the great people who have been helping so far, we can finish this summer.

Since we will be concentrating on the Lake Loop, all work days will start at the gate at Lake and Lyall at 9AM. If you miss us, you can walk to the Dam where we will be arranging tools. If a bit later than that, feel free to come find us in the work area, we'll find a tool and a task for you. We have had a lot of new volunteers come out to help lately and we can definitely use more help if you have some time.
The work dates are:

If you join us, bring at least a liter of water you can carry on your back, wear long pants and sleeves and sturdy work shoes. If you have gloves please bring them or we have plenty to lend for the day. A hat is a very good idea and some folks like a small towel for breaks.
See you on the trails...
