Update: After Nearly a Week Wandering the Canyon, Lucy is Home!
An alert neighbor spotted the lost dog in a ravine behind Water Dog Lake and alerted animal control.
Lucy, the lost dog belonging to the Blos family in Belmont Heights, has been found safe and sound after disappearing from her Wemberly Drive home on New Year's Eve.
Lucy's human companion Greg Blos posted this happy message on NextDoor.com Monday evening:
"Amazing as it seems, our old gal survived the open space and was found this evening. I have taken her down to Adobe Pet Hospital in Los Altos to pump some fluids into her and get her checked out. Thank you to all the great neighbors who searched, kept an eye out, provided support, etc. Some unknown person noticed her in a ravine behind water dog and alerted animal control. Thank you to that person, if you are out there!!!"
While still searching for Lucy, Blos posted this message:
"Lucy is part of a duo of dogs we have had for over 15 years. Her partner in crime passed away in November and we were not prepared for this recent event. Anyways, my wife and I were just remarking on how fortunate we are to be a part of such a great group of neighbors and animal lovers!!! Thank you all..."
