Homeview Neighborhood Sends Kudos to Police, Fire

Homeview is Belmont's oldest neighborhood. The traditional Halloween costume contest and parade has been going on for 60 years.

For over 60 years, residents in Belmont's Homeview neighborhood have celebrated a special Halloween tradition--families gather for a costume contest and parade on October 31.

Homeview Neighborhood Association president Gina Latimerlo told Patch that the annual tradition was made even more special thanks to the assistance of the Belmont police and fire departments who attend the event.

"This tradition has been going on for over 60 years, and it means so much to our kids, families, and residents," Latimerlo said.

"The event started with the founding of our neighborhood association (the oldest in Belmont) and has happened every year since. We hold a big costume contest and have games and prizes. The highlight of the evening is parading behind the firetruck up through the streets of our neighborhood," added Latimerlo.
