Wrestling with guilt? Find relief this Sunday!

This Sunday (3/2/2014), Gloria Dei will be having a special service focused around a recently-released movie, Come Follow Me. In this approximately half hour movie, we will follow Jesus' disciple and close friend, Peter, as he wrestles with his guilt and inadequacy before God because of what he had done and not done.

That load of guilt and misery is nothing that Peter could claim exclusivity on. We all carry around our baggage and burdens, and all of us at one time or another have felt that we're not good enough, that we can't do this on our own, that we need help.

That help is exactly what Jesus came to bring. Jesus' mission was to release us from that guilt by paying for the sins that cause that guilt. We feel bad abotu our standing before God because, on our own, it is bad. But with Jesus, with his death and resurrection to pay for sin, we stand as perfect people before God with no fear of his wrath or punishment coming fown on us because Jesus took it all in our place. We belong to him. We find out as Peter found out, he loves us more than we could ever imagine.

And that's different than any other solution to guilt we might find. Unlike so many other options that seek to put bad things out of our mind and ignore them, Jesus actually deals with the problem and destroys it. More that curing the guilt, by destroying the sin that cause the guilt, Jesus removes them both.

Worship this Sunday will center around that gift, and copies of the movie will be available, free of charge, to every family. Join us at 10:30am this Sunday for a morning of encouragement with the love and forgiveness of God! And if you can't make it on Sunday but would like a copy of the movie, please just reach out and let me know. We'll get you a copy regardless.

If you'd like to view the trailer for the movie, you can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoBS1_P4a7U

May the Lord bless your weekend!
