Sarver, Thomsen Retain Seats on Sequoia Union High School District Board

Both candidates have served on the SUHSD board since 2009.

Sequoia Union High School District (SUHSD) governing board incumbents Alan Sarver and Christopher Thomsen were re-elected Tuesday night and will each serve another four year term.

The board establishes the structure and direction of the Sequoia Union High School District through its adopted policies in the district's four high schools, continuation high school, and adult education program.

There were three candidates for two seats.

Sarver, who has served on the SUHSD board since 2009, garnered the highest number of votes, 13,161 (35.26%), and Thomsen, also a board member since 2009, was second of the three candidates with 12,308 votes (32.97%).

Georgia Jack, the challenger, finished third with 31.77%, or 11,861 votes.

Both Sarver and Thomsen stated during the election that if re-elected, they would focus on the district's common core curriculum, boosting graduation rates, planning for enrollment growth and long term fiscal stability.

Sarver is a resident of Belmont; Thomsen lives in Menlo Park.
