RSCA Not Issuing Endorsements of Measure R, School Board

The association hosted the first school board candidate forum in September.

In a post on Patch's Conversations board, the Redwood Shores Community Association says it will not endorse any of the seven Belmont-Redwood Shores School District board of trustees candidates, nor will the association endorse Measure R, the district's $174 parcel tax initiative.

In its website posting, the RSCA states:
"The Redwood Shores Community Association is not taking a position on the parcel tax Measure R, decided not to issue an endorsement on Measure R or any school board candidates in the upcoming election.  RSCA did endorse three RWC council candidates. RSCA is a volunteer organization that is the premier advocate on issues affecting the quality of life in the Shores.  Please visit their website rsca.org to read their endorsements and decisions."RSCA has always supported education in our local schools and recognizes both the intangible value and increased property value they add to our community. You will find arguments supporting Measure R on Page 4 and in the Official Voter Information Pamphlet you received. You can read one person’s opposition to Measure R on Page 4 of the October PILOT.
The RSCA Board has heard – vigorously – from both those who support and those who oppose Measure R. We remain keenly aware that we represent not only those with school age children, but the 75+% of Shores residents without school age children.

While the RSCA Board was unable to reach consensus on Measure R, we do recognize these concerns of the broader Shores community.
