Reminder: Belmont City Council Candidate Forum to Be Held Wed. at Nesbit Elementary School
Jimmy Cappels, a math teacher in San Mateo, basketball coach at Carlmont and Redwood Shores resident will moderate the forum.
Update: As of Wednesday morning, there has not been any request for childcare at tonight's forum at Nesbit. The Neighborhood Associations of Belmont will host two Candidates' Forums at Nesbit Elementary School to help Belmont residents become better acquainted for those running for city council and school board.

According to forum organizers, the moderator for the Oct. 9 forum featuring city council candidates will be Jimmy Cappels, a Math teacher in San Mateo, basketball coach at Carlmont and Redwood Shores resident.

There are contested races for both Belmont City Council (six candidates for three seats) and Belmont-Redwood Shores School District Board of Trustees (seven candidates for three seats). All are four year terms.
The association is made up of 10 individual neighborhood groups representing the various geographical regions of Belmont:
- Belmont Heights Civic Improvement Association
- Central Neighborhood Association
- Cipriani Neighborhood Association
- Downtown Neighborhood Association of Belmont (DNAB)
- Farallon Homeowner Association
- Homeview Neighborhood Association
- McDougal Neighborhood Association
- Plateau-Skymont Neighborhood Association
- Sterling Downs Neighborhood Association
- Western Hills Neighborhood Association
According to a representative of the Belmont Neighborhoods Association, all participating candidates will be given time to introduce themselves and respond to questions from the audience.
Light refreshments will be provided, and all are welcome to join us for this free event.
Childcare during the Oct. 16 forum will be available through Footsteps Childcare for $5/child. (Note: Childcare will only be available for Oct. 9 forum if there are 10 or more children signed up.) (Children must be potty-trained, and a minimum of 10 children are needed to provide this service.)
