Traffic Advisory: Friday Lane Closure on Crystal Springs Road

The work being done along Crystal Springs Rd. near Polhemus Rd. is in advance of the 2012 project that will replace and upgrade water pipelines.

(Editor's Note: The following advisory was provided by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission via the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services.)

Portions of Crystal Springs Road between Skyline Boulevard and Polhemus Road will be closed to one lane from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic through one open lane at all times. The work began Wednesday.

The Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 (CSPL2) team will be “potholing” and drilling – limited activities with a small crew – in advance of work in 2012 to replace and upgrade the CSPL2 drinking water pipeline. This pipeline provides water to San Mateo County and runs through unincorporated San Mateo County, Hillsborough, Burlingame, Millbrae, San Bruno, South San Francisco, Brisbane and Daly City.

The work is part of the SFPUC’s $4.6 billion Water System Improvement Program (WSIP) to repair, replace, and seismically upgrade the aging Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System.

Please call the 24-hour WSIP hotline with any questions or concerns: (866) 973-1476.
