Strong Storm System Headed to Bay Area

Rain will continue into Wednesday morning.

The clouds cleared for much of the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco on Sunday, but the skies are gray again today and Bay Area residents should prepare for more rainfall, a National Weather Service forecaster said.

Rain is expected in the Bay Area by mid-afternoon, likely beginning in the North Bay, meteorologist Mark Strobin said.

The rain will turn to showers by Tuesday, with showers increasing late Tuesday afternoon. The rainy weather should end sometime Wednesday morning, Strobin said.

No weather warnings have been issued but Strobin said some parts of the Bay Area could see an inch of rain.

"It's an unusually strong system for this time of year," he said.
