Night Work Coming to Crystal Springs Bypass Tunnel

Crews will be working on the new Crystal Springs Bypass Tunnel beginning in January.

Crews will begin night work on the new Crystal Springs Bypass Tunnel near Interstate Highway 280 in San Mateo in mid-January.

The work will connect the new pipeline to the local water system as part of the Hetch Hetchy Water System Improvement Project.

The pipeline connection will take place at the South Shaft site off Polhemus Road, and will last up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week for about three weeks. During that time, residents in the area may hear some noise from the crane and other equipment.
