Mountain Lion Spotted in Portola Valley

The creature was seen at about 6:40 a.m. today.

A mountain lion was seen in Portola Valley this morning, emergency officials said.

The carnivorous cat was spotted at about 6:40 a.m. in the area of 1245 Los Trancos Road, according to San Mateo County emergency officials.

Residents are advised to not approach mountain lions, and instead try to appear as large and noisy as possible. The California Department of Fish and Game also warns to avoid jogging at dawn, dusk or at night when mountain lions are most active.
