Mountain Lion Sighting Reported in Woodside

The animal was seen at about 5:40 a.m. Monday.

San Mateo County emergency officials say a mountain lion was spotted early Monday morning in Woodside.

The animal was seen in the area of the 300 block of Whiskey Hill Road at abut 5:40 a.m., according to the emergency officials.

Mountain lions reside in more than half of California, and generally live wherever deer exist, including here in Belmont.

Residents are advised to not approach mountain lions, and instead try to appear as large and noisy as possible.

The California Department of Fish and Game also warns to avoid jogging at dawn, dusk or at night when mountain lions are most active.
