Join the Masterworks Summer Sing Chorale this Sunday at 4 p.m. in San Carlos, for Lauridsen in Wonderland, an uplifting concert of choral music by Morten Lauridsen and delightfully light-hearted settings of poems from Alice in Wonderland by Irving Fine.

As the magnetic Bryan Baker, Artistic Director of Masterworks said of this concert, “With Lauridsen music, engaging soloists, a good old-fashioned ice cream social at intermission, and Broadway sing-alongs to follow – what a joyful Sunday afternoon!”.

Plenty of your neighbors have been joining Masterworks over the years, and you’ll find the evolving Masterworks an engaging Chorale to be so entertained by.  Meet Becky Howland for instance, who just joined last September. Becky lives in Belmont, and says she feels the spirit of unity.

For Becky, attending practice every Monday means socializing with a diverse group of people, making new friends, and having a great time singing with the warming and talented conductor Dr. Bryan Baker.

This summer, Becky has enjoyed the opportunity of singing side by side her son, Danny. Together, they shared the meaningful - almost spiritual - experience of singing with a close-knit group of people who have developed their talent as a creative and welcoming community.

Jim grew up in a household where his mother always sang leisurely, but it never occurred to him that singing would become a big part of his life in his later years.  Five years ago, Jim joined Masterworks Chorale out of curiosity.  He recalls his solo audition being 50% voice, and 50% bravery.  As terrifying as the experience was, Jim has gone on to become one of the most active and enthusiastic members within Masterworks Chorale.

Jim Hawley of Menlo Park appreciates the big family feel Masterworks Chorale has to offer.  He gives credit to Dr. Bryan Baker for breaking down barriers and creating a comfortable environment amongst members.  Jim also speaks highly of the powerful connection he feels towards others while performing, stating, “ . . . the difference between the next person disappears as the group becomes one big organism.”  For Jim, Masterworks Chorale is a liberating and communal outlet of expression

All this with a Chorale invited to sing at Carnegie Hall twice, Avery Fisher Hall also in New York City, and the San Francisco Symphony!
