Hearing Breaking Glass, Belmont Officer Nabs 4 Car Burglars

The four suspects were arrested in the garage of the Holiday Inn Express for allegedly burglarizing a car.

An alert Belmont police officer on routine patrol Monday night arrested four suspects after interrupting the burglary of a car in a hotel garage.

According to the Belmont Police Department, on Monday, June 3 at about 11:45pm, a Belmont police officer on patrol was checking the parking garage of the Holiday Inn Express, located at 1650 El Camino Real, when he heard the sound of breaking glass and came upon a suspect standing next to a parked car.

Police say the officer realized that he had interrupted a vehicle burglary and detained the suspect, along with three others, who were in an adjacent car. After investigation, the four suspects were taken into custody on multiple charges. Two of the suspects were adults and two were juveniles (names of juveniles being withheld due to their ages).

The adults were booked into the San Mateo County Jail and the juveniles were booked into the San Mateo County Youth Service Center. The suspects arrested were: Zachary Guyton, 22 of Foster City, Deondrea Washington, 18, of Foster City, male juvenile, 17, of San Mateo, and male juvenile, 16, of Hayward.
