Game Ends in Tie, But Winner is School-Force

The 2013 Parent Softball Fundraiser between Fox and Sandpiper elementary schools was held last Saturday. The game raised $1,250 for School-Force.

The best games are the ones that happen spur of the moment.Last Saturday, Fox Elementary School parent Michael Dell'Aquila organized a last-minute family softball game between Fox and Sandpiper elementary schools at the Belmont Sports Complex. The game served as a fundraiser for School-Force, the education foundation for the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District.Dell'Aquila, who has organized fundraising softball games in previous years, reported that the game was as close as it could get---after 6 innings both teams tied, 7-7.

"It was lots of fun, the kids of the parents that played and others passing by, thoroughly enjoyed it. This year,  instead of giving the money to each school's PTA, we decided to give the money to School Force, Belmont's local school fundraising group, " said Dell'Aquila.

Together, Sandpiper and Fox Schools raised $1250 respectively.

Dell'Aquila says that he'll continue the softball tournament next year with the proceeds going to School Force.
