Editor Laura Dudnick to Transfer to San Mateo Patch

Laura Dudnick bids Belmont Patch farewell on Monday.

Dear Belmont Patch readers,

It is with mixed emotions I share with you that as of Monday, I will be moving just a bit north to become the editor of San Mateo Patch.

I say mixed emotions because I am both looking forward to this new opportunity, yet I will truly miss the wonderful people I've gotten to know here in Belmont, and I will miss covering this uniquely vibrant city. In the past year, I've learned more about Belmont as your local editor than I've ever known about my hometown.

This transition happened rather quickly, and I wish I could have told each of you in person about the change. I am looking forward to the challenge of taking on a new city, but you can bet a million Beli Deli sandwiches that I will miss covering Belmont.

I will miss each and every one of you, the readers and residents, who have taken the time to utilize Belmont Patch as a source of information. I’ve nurtured this site since its creation on October 6, and it’s because of you that it has grown so widely and become the passionate site you see today. Rest assured, the editor who takes over Belmont Patch permanently will love Belmont just as much as I do.

Thank you, readers, for introducing yourselves to me and to the site. Thank you for your story ideas, for your comments and for your support in this incredible journey of creating a one-stop shop for Belmont. Your news site is going to continue to blossom thanks to all of you!

With that, I’ll leave you with a “see ya around!” because I will surely bump into you at one of the many Belmont shops and restaurants I have grown to love. And if you want to have coffee anytime, I’m just around the corner.

All the best,

Laura

Bummer, Laura. We'll sure miss you. Hope you found us a worthy successor. Good thing is, we can always subscribe to the San Mateo Patch, so you're not that far away. Good luck in your new adventure. You'll have your hands full.

Laura you've done a fantastic job! You've covered our city with equanimity and warmth. Good luck in your upcoming journalistic endeavors, maybe someday we'll see you in a white house corespondent chair :).

Say it ain't so! You didn't ask our permission, Laura! Don't you know that that's a prerequisite? All the best to you, we'll miss you. San Mateo's gain is Belmont's loss. You have a very bright future ahead of you.

All the best Laura. San Mateo is lucky to get you.

Sounds like it's a good move for you Laura. Congratulations! I will, however, be selfishly disappointed to not see you around these parts any longer. Enjoy your next "chapter". I expect this will be one of many opportunities presented you in the years to come. Happy Trails, and please drop by from time to time! :)

Everyone, I am incredibly moved by your comments! Your well-wishes are much appreciated, and reciprocated, as the last thing I want to see is Belmont Patch lose readers! Keep commenting and contributing, although there isn't a full-time editor yet I will be around helping out until one is selected. Belmont Patch will never be at a shortage of news! Feel free to keep sending news tips and story ideas to me in the meantime, too! Thank you all!!! :-)

Ah! That explains why I saw you up at the top of the San Mateo Patch page...I was hoping it was just a vacation sub. Congratulations on the move. Thanks for all your work here. We'll miss you.

Laura, as they say "you will be a hard act to follow." Much success to you in San Mateo and where ever your both your "excellent-journalism" and "excellent-outlook on life" takes you. Now I would also like you to pass onto the powers that be at Patch that the community would love to have a talented replacement who can stay with Belmont over one year!
