Dirt Spill Closes Lanes of Hwy 101 in Redwood City

Drivers are advised to take Highway 280 as an alternate route.

Three lanes of northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Redwood City are closed due to dirt and rocks that spilled onto the roadway late this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A dump truck reportedly spilled the dirt and rocks into the three left lanes of Highway 101 at Whipple Avenue just before 11 a.m.

Caltrans has been notified of the situation and is responding to clear the roadway.

The CHP is advising drivers to use Interstate Highway 280 as an alternate route, as traffic is reportedly heavy on Highway 101 in the area.
