Bishop Road Property Officially Hits Market

The property was featured on the weekly brokers' tour and is being advertised in newspapers.

The City of Belmont's real estate broker for parcels along Bishop Road in the San Juan Canyon, Deleon, has created two websites to help market the residential lots.

The websites, www.BishopRoadLand.com and www.belmontland4sale.com list the lots that are available for the development of 1-3 homes. According Belmont City Manager Greg Scoles' Weekly Update newsletter, there will be an additional 30 or so websites that will also be listing the property.

In March, the City of Belmont voted to sell off a portion of the property for residential development and to use some of those proceeds to pay off the  internal loan of about $1.5 million from the city's fleet account.

In total, the 35 acres (87 lots) of land were purchased by the city in 2009 in an auction by the U.S. Marshals Service. The city's goal was to preserve as much land as possible while using low-density development along Bishop Road.

Brochures for the property have been completed and newspaper ads have been run in various publications, according to the city's Weekly Update newsletter.

Scoles says the broker, Deleon, has already been contacted by agents with interested buyers. Offers are due by July 29.
