Bike Share Memberships Now On Sale
700 unisex bikes will be available at five docking stations between San Francisco and San Jose, including several on the Peninsula.

Memberships go on sale today for a multi-agency bike share program that will launch next month offering 700 bikes at dozens of docking stations
in five Bay Area cities, a spokesman said.
Passes for the Bay Area Bike Share program will be sold starting at noon today at www.bayareabikeshare.com. The cost is $88 per year; $22 for
a three-day pass; and $9 for a daily pass, Bay Area Air Quality Management
District spokesman Ralph Borrmann said.
The $7 million program is set to begin sometime in August with about 700 seven-speed, unisex bikes at 70 stations spread out in San Francisco, Redwood City, Palo Alto, Mountain View and San Jose, Borrmann
said.
Users can access bikes from locked racks that are being installed around those cities, including at Caltrain stations.
The bicycles are meant to be used for short trips, and surcharges will apply to those who borrow a bike for more than 30 minutes, air district officials said.
The air district, based in San Francisco, has joined the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Caltrain, the San Mateo County Transit District and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority to administer the bike share program in San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, Borrmann said.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and County Transportation Authority also are partners, Borrmann said.
