Are You Ready for 'The Big One'?

San Mateo County's Annual Disaster Preparedness Day will be held this Saturday, June 8.

Do you keep a comfortable set of clothes and a pair of sneakers in your car? Do you know basic CPR? How much food and water will you need to survive after an earthquake?

In short, how prepared are you for a disaster?

The ninth annual San Mateo County Annual Disaster Preparation Day will be held this Saturday, June 8. The event reminds the county's residents and business owners of the need for preparation, and to provide them with many of the tools to protect their family, home, and business in case of disaster.

Attendees will learn how to prepare their family for a disaster, take a free and quick course in basic CPR, learn how to put together a disaster kit and make a disaster plan, see first responders in action, and more.

San Mateo County Annual Disaster Preparedness Day takes place June 8 from 10 am - 2 pm at the San Mateo County Event Center, 1346 Saratoga Ave. in San Mateo.

Arrive before 11am and for free parking and free admission for the whole family to the San Mateo County Fair.  For more information, contact the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services at 650-363-4790.
