This Calls For Wearing a Spandex Tux!

Claire celebrates her birthday in the proper SF fashion.

I have a few men in my life. There's Criss, of course, my darling redhead, who I've been dating for almost two years. Then there's Buster — he just makes everyone's day a little bit brighter. And Brian — there's something really attractive about that black mohawk, those tats, and his quirky manner — he's just crazy enough for me to like him. And, I got to spend my birthday with all of them.

That's right — Criss got us tickets to a Giants game on my birthday, July 10, so we hopped on the Caltrain Sunday morning to try out a fan tradition — standing at the gate early to get our hands on that day's giveaway — a Buster Posey bobblehead. I was a Giants promotion virgin. The 10th was only my third Giants game — I hopped on the bandwagon last season, not so much because they were playing well (accuse me all you want of being a fair weather fan) but because it was my first Giants season with Criss, and there was just no escaping them — he always watched the games on TV live or after the fact with our DVR. And I caught the bug.

So I figured, what better way to celebrate my birthday this year than to go to a game, and Criss obliged (good boyfriend). And then two weeks before the game, we saw the ad on TV about the bobblehead promotion, and I didn't even have to ask if we could go early — he knew it was a given.

So three hours after our arrival at AT&T park, I had a bobblehead and was making a bee line for the garlic fries. Mmmmmmmmmm - GARLIC FRIES! A tip about the garlic fries at AT&T park that I learned the first time I went there - eat them quick, or they get cold!

Criss wasn't particularly thrilled with the Buster Posey bobblehead, but I was just glad to have gone through the experience — despite the sore feet and back and sunburned scalp. He's informed me though that he's never going early ever again — I suppose I'm going on my own next time they do a Giants socks promotion (I looooove socks).

And of course, the Giants won for me on my birthday (because of course I was the ONLY person celebrating a birthday at the park that day)! But the biggest highlight was seeing Brian Wilson, albeit from far away (we were behind the left field foul pole). The energy in the place when he came out — it whizzes through your bones, and you can't help but jump up and down as they blast "Jump Around." It was such a wonderful feeling, and a fabulous way to close my birthday with the Giants closer. (P.S. Brian, your spandex tux is wicked cool - can I borrow it sometime?)

Next year is my 25th birthday — what can I do to celebrate? Throw me some ideas in the comments! *hugs*
