New Wag Hotel Opens in Grand Style

Traveling over the holidays? Redwood City's Wag Hotel will provide your pets with a home-away-from-home. The hotel will throw a holiday party for pets on Sat. benefitting the Peninsula Humane Society.

Wag Hotel, Redwood City's innovative new pet resort is the the ultimate pet "stay and play" place for dog and cat playdates and sleepovers.

Patch recently took a tour of the hotel, which officially started welcoming four-legged guests on Nov. 18. The new facility is located at  1025 Hansen Way, Redwood City (you can't miss the enormous dog faces on the building when driving south on Hwy. 101).

This is a new concept in pet care, explained the staff members during the tour.

"Our number one goal is to provide your best friend the ultimate experience during his or her stay while giving you the peace of mind that your pet is safe, healthy and happy," said the tour guide.

Wag Hotel offers a variety of services and amenities, including hotel-style boarding, All Day Play/ Dog Day Care, training, grooming and spa services.

The hotel features open-air, loft-style facilities with play areas, swimming pools and peaceful private rooms for snoozing.

Overnight guests have their choice of accommodations--from cozy to cushy. Ultra Suites include an off-the-floor bed, flat screen TVs (complete with Netflix animal-themed movies), Pandora radio, a webcam, and even a bedtime story if the pooch so chooses.

And cats are also welcome at Wag Hotels. The "Cattery" has its own play area and a separate filtration system from the dogs, so the two species don't catch a whiff of one another during their stay.

This Saturday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m-3 p.m., Wag Hotel is hosting a holiday pet party complete with a pet psychic, doggie masseuse, treats for people and dogs, and more. The event benefits the Peninsula Humane Society.
