Readers' Choice Poll: Belmont's Best French Fries

We can all admit to this guilty pleasure--enjoying an awesome order of fries. Tell us in this week's poll who serves the best.

They've been julienned, shoe-stringed, steak-cut, curly-q'd, seasoned, cheesed-up, truffled and dunked in numerous sauces, but to say the french fry is merely a fried potato is doing one of America's favorite foods a disservice.

Like the perfect burger which the fry often accompanies, making a good batch is as much an art as it is science. There are steps involved in making the perfectly crisp french fry--cutting, soaking, rinsing, re-rinsing, frying, cooling, and re-frying--and then of course, salted just so.

Do you consider yourself a papas fritas connoisseur? If so, share with us where in Belmont you find the perfect order of fries. And don't be shy---if there's a place elsewhere on the Peninsula that gets your vote, feel free to add it to our comment section, or go that city's Patch site to cast your vote.

(Note: Because we want to keep this poll local, we haven't included any national fast food restaurants on our list.)

Poll closes Friday at 9 a.m.; winner will be announced Friday at noon.

The benefits at Godfather's - you can order sweet potato fires which can be washed down with Scotch Ale (Devil's Canyon). To me that combination much more healthy than regular fries and a soda and more important my wife agrees, well sort of anyway.

Sounds like you've got a regular routine at Godfather's Steve! Thanks for the advice!

THE SOUR CREAM FRIES AT DAIRY BELLE (101 BURGERS AND SHAKES) ARE NOT ONLY THE BEST FRIES IN BELMONT THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD. THE REG FRIES ARE WHATEVS, BUT SERIOUSLY, THE SOUR CREAM FRIES ARE THE BEST.

Does Mistral count as Belmont? Probably not, but they're the best in the greater Belmont area. ;) I wish I could enjoy Godfather's more, their fries are up there and I do like local beer at my local restaurant, but their vegetarian option is terrible ("upscale" portabella burgers are a terrible idea.) We always go to Jack's Prime whose fries aren't quite as good (and my husband says the meat is better at Godfathers) simply because Godfathers hasn't figured out a good veggie burger.

Thanks Kerry.....sure, if you think Mistral has good fries, we can add it to the list even though it's technically in Redwood Shores---but that's okay! I've had them and they are awesome.
