New Sequoia Hospital Nearing Completion

The new facility is expected to open its doors within a year.

Construction on a new the Sequoia Hospital campus is nearing completion, with the facility expected to open by next summer, a company spokeswoman said.

The 148,000 square foot facility's completion culminates a massive undertaking that's been in the work for nearly five years. Construction crews first broke ground on the project in November 2007.

The new campus will feature some of the most advanced medical technological services available in the Bay Area, and is designed to accommodate future advancements, company officials said.

The remodeled portions of the existing hospital and new pavilion will be built to seismic standards mandated by state law in the aftermath of the 1994 Northridge earthquake.

The project includes a remodeling of the existing hospital, with the emergency department and birth center modernized.

The new four-story pavilion will feature 104 new beds including private rooms with added space for overnight family visits.

It will also feature new terraced gardens, a fountain, and a rooftop healing garden.
