Belmont's Mercedes Dealer Schedules a Major Tune-Up
Autobahn Motors has asked the City of Belmont to review a plan that would increase the size of the car dealership from 51,000 square feet to 56,000 square feet.
In mid-September, the City of Belmont's Community Development Dept. received a development review application from Autobahn Motors to rebuild the dealership at their Island Parkway property, according to Belmont City Manager Greg Scoles's Weekly Update newsletter.
Autobahn Motors is a Mercedes Benz dealership/showroom and service center located at 700 Island Pkwy., on the east side of Hwy. 101 in Belmont.
Autobahn's proposed project includes demolition of the existing approximately 51,000 square-foot sales/service building and replacement with an approximately 56,000 square foot building devoted mostly to sales/showroom/office activities.

Autobahn has also been leasing a property in the Unincorporated Harbor Industrial Area (HIA) at 500-510 Harbor Boulevard since approximately 2006. This area has been used for the dealership's expanding vehicle service/storage needs.
The majority of service functions will be moved to the Harbor Boulevard site where a new larger service building will be constructed. Customers will continue to drop off vehicles at the Island Parkway facility for servicing and employees will shuttle vehicles between sites.
Scoles says the project is just beginning the review phase (environmental assessment) and could be considered by the Planning Commission by January/February 2014.
