The beloved mystery bookstore in downtown San Mateo said good-bye to its loyal customers last month.

Later this month the store is expected to reopen under new management, according to a sign on the door and a letter from owner Ed Kaufman on the store's website.

The new bookstore will reportedly sell quality used books in a variety of categories. Author-signing events, which the mystery bookstore was known for, will still happen both in-store and at local libraries.
