Harley Farms Goats Vs. Santa's Reindeer [VIDEO]

The Christmas goats of Harley Farms in Pescadero tell us how they really feel about Santa's reindeer in a video produced by Belmont residents.

Now why would an adorable goat feel animosity toward Santa's reindeer?

Well, a video shot by storyteller James Reid will tell you why.

In the two-minute video with voiceovers by Cameron Blucher, 9, Janelle Kwofie, 10, and Carter Reid, 9, students at Fox Elementary in Belmont, the goats of Harley Farms in Pescadero express their disdain for Santa’s reindeers, who they say only work one day a year and get by with their cutesy names. Meanwhile, Harley’s goats have no names and work 365 days a year.

"Everyone involved has a connection to the farm, so there was no need to cast voices from Tinseltown. We do it organically," said Reid, who does marketing and public relations work for the farm.

Still, those goats with no names produce some of the finest goat cheese around and want to remind you to remember "real hardworking Christmas creatures" like them, making great gifts and yummy cheese with herbs and edible flowers for holiday hors'deovres.

"Our message behind the video is simple," said Reid. "We want people to celebrate the local flavors of our farm during the holidays. Our cheeses are beautiful pieces of art to share for appetizers or to give as gifts. It's a holiday tradition many in the Bay Area have started, and it continues to grow."

Reid filmed four female goats, two llamas and a male goat the better part of one full day for the video.

"They played along wonderfully and had no problems wearing elf hats," he said. "They're amazing animals."

The Harley Farms chevre, fromage blanc, ricotta and feta cheeses are consistent winners at the American Cheese Society awards, and hold two international World Cheese Show medals.

The Harley Farms Christmas Faire was last weekend, but there are still plenty of wonderful things to do at the farm this holiday season, like take a tour of the farm, try some cheese, join the Winter Solstice Dinner on Dec. 21, and buy unique gifts, from handmade hats, mohair throws and bath and body products made from goat milk to farm pottery made by local artist Catherine Henry of Wild Woman Pottery, farm milk paint, and gardening tools.

Harley Farms is located at 205 North Street, PO Box 173, Pescadero, CA 94060. Farm & Cheese Shop Open Daily 10AM - 5PM, Closed Christmas Day & New Years Day.

Dee Harley and all the people who work with her at the farm are just the best, my family love going there to get our farm yard fix, now with the opening of the neibouring barn it's even better.
