German Engineering Firm Opens Belmont Office

The new office of BFFT Engineering will be located on Emmett Ave. The firm specializes in electronics and alternative drive technologies.

With one of their main clients, VW/Audi, located just across the freeway, it made sense for the German engineering firm, BFFT, to open a local office in downtown Belmont.

BFFT will occupy the first floor (4,000 square feet) of a commercial building located at 940 Emmett Ave.

According to Belmont City Manager Greg Scoles' Weekly Update newsletter, the German-based company, which employs 700 people worldwide, specializes in electronics, alternative drive technologies, and hardware and software development. BFFT clients and partners are the international automotive and aviation industry and its suppliers.

VW/Audi’s Electronics Research Lab (ERL) facility located at 500 Clipper Drive in Belmont BFFT's main clients.

The firm is currently completing tenant improvements on the building, according to Carlos de Melo, Belmont's Community Development Director.

De Melo anticipates completion of the work, which will 15-30 employees to occupy the building, to be completed in in mid-February. The company anticipates additional growth in the future, according to de Melo.
