Belmont Hardware has graced the El Camino Real entrance to downtown Belmont since 1938. On Thursday, December 12th at 5:00pm, the Mayor of Belmont and other City Council and Chamber of Commerce members will join store owners Brad and Yamileth Clore and friends at the store as they celebrate the store’s 75th year in operation. The free public event will be crowned by the unveiling and lighting of the freshly-restored historic neon sign so familiar to generations of peninsula residents.

“I have supported the council and chamber members with the ongoing beautification efforts of downtown Belmont” says Brad Clore, who took over the historic business in 1991. He continues “We have been able to preserve some of our building’s historic character while also making needed repairs and improvements. As the current caretakers of the oldest retail business in continuous operation in Belmont, we are dedicated to ongoing community improvements.”

Belmont Hardware is the anchor location of the seven-store Northern California retail chain. In addition to selling fine decorative finish hardware, the business now includes plumbing fixtures. Last year the store expanded into the space next to the original store doubling the showroom’s square footage. Another recent facade improvement is the addition of large custom awnings facing El Camino Real near Ralston Ave.
