Park Boosters 'Wanna Hold Your Hand' This Sunday

It's Beatles week with tribute band Plastic Onion taking the stage for the Belmont Summer Concert Series.

In a nod to King George and the country from which we sought independence 237 years ago, this weekend's Belmont Park Boosters Summer Concert Series in Twin Pines Park features Beatles tribute artists, The Plastic Onion Band.

The Plastic Onion Band will perform Sunday, July 7 from 1-4 p.m. in the Meadow at Twin Pines Park.

Although they have a British invasion sound, most members of The Plastic Onion band are homegrown---with the exception of Liverpudlian drummer Martyn Jones, all the band members hail from San Francisco and Pacifica.

According to their bio, five members who have "come together" through a mutual love and admiration of the Beatle's music.

Everyone in the band sings and plays at least one instrument and each brings their unique musical experiences to the party. For example, drummer Martyn Jones  is also the drummer of The Mermen, the Bay Area's legendary psychedelic-surf band.

The Plastic Onion Band are not "look-alikes" but they do their best to be "sound-alikes", reproducing the instrumentation, vocal harmonies, and fun spirit of the "Fab Four."

“These free concerts provide a great time for dancing and having fun with friends and family. All refreshments sold will help make these concerts possible, “ say Park Boosters organizers.
