Jazz on the Hill Returns to CSM

The one-day jazz fest will be held at College of San Mateo on June 1.

After a nine-year hiatus, the popular day-long jazz celebration will return to the home of the area's only jazz radio station, KCSM 91.1 FM, on the campus of College of San Mateo. The event coincides with CSM's 50th anniversary.
Jazz on the Hill will be held on Saturday, Jun 1 from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on the campus of CSM.

The music stage will be located on the lower mezzanine in front of the library steps and offers a  spectacular 360-degree view of the coastal hills of the Bay. There will be seating on the mezzanine along both sides of the fountain, and plenty of lawn seating.

The line up of musicians covers a wide genre of jazz from straight-ahead, the blues, to hip-hop fusion and more.

Participating musicians include:

  • 10 am - Northgate High School Jazz Band
  • 11 am - KCSM Family band
  • 12 pm - Adam Theis & Jazz Mafia
  • 1 pm - Terrence Brewer, Citizen Rhythm
  • 2 pm - Hot Club of San Francisco
  • 3 pm - Taylor Eigsti, Julian Lage and Dayna Stephens
  • 4 pm - Charlie Musselwhite
  • 5 pm - Pacifica Mambo Orchestra
Organizers invite guests to bring a picnic baset and blanket and arrive early to claim a spot. But for those who prefer to purchase food, there will be a variety of  local vendors such as Curry Up Now, Doc's of the Bay, KASA Indian, HiYaaa (Vietnamese), Whisk on Wheels, El Porteno Empanadas, Taqueria Angelica, Miz Lynn's Pies, Pineapple House, Urban Flame, Sea Scouts-Gryphon, Boy Scouts 44 and Girl Scouts-Tradewind.

As many as 5,000 people are expected to attend the jazz fest.

According to the Jazz on the Hill event website, "It's more than music this year, as KCSM and College of San Mateo, which is celebrating 50 years on The Hill', partner for what is expected to be an amazing event."
