Presenter: Scott A. Shields, Ph.D., Chief Curator, Crocker Art Museum
California art, in particular the iconic art from the Monterey Peninsula, is front and center at Filoli when Dr. Scott A. Shields, Chief Curator at the Crocker Art Museum, speaks on April 19th. At the turn of the Twentieth Century, the towns of Monterey, Pacific Grove and eventually Carmel were home to kindred souls who freely shared their lives, ideals and respective arts with a spirit of association and collegiality. These artists saw the Monterey Peninsula as the new spiritual heart of California. Dr. Shields will share the history of this fascinating place and time in California art. Book signing and sale included.
