Belmont Weekender: Halloween Concert, Farmers' Market and More

Looking for fun things to do this weekend? Check our calendar of local and regional events for this weekend and beyond in Belmont.

The Belmont Library is hosting a Halloween Party and Cupcake Decorating for teens, ages 13-19, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. All materials will be supplied while supplies last and participants will have a chance to show off their cupcake decorating skills in a themed cupcake battle. Prizes will be awarded for the best cupcakes. The library is at 1110 Alameda de Las Pulgas. Admission is free.

HALLOWEEN PARADE

Kids are invited to put on their best Halloween costumes and join in a Halloween parade starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 at Carlmont Village Shopping Center, 1049 Alameda  de las Pulgas, Belmont. After the parade kids can visit shopping center merchants trick-or-treat fun. Admission is free.

The Stanford Symphony Orchestra and the Stanford Wind Ensemble will perform a “Music From The Movies” concert in the spirit of Halloween at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 at Braun Music Center, Dinkelspiel Auditorium, 471 Lagunita Drive, Stanford. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students/seniors. For details, call 650-725-2787.

 

‘RICH AND FAMOUS’

Playwrigh John Guare’s surrealist comedy “Rich and Famous” will be staged at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at the Dragon Theatre, 2120 Broadway St., Redwood City. Tickets are $35, $30 for seniors and $25 for students. For details, call 650-493-2006.

 

HILLSBOROUGH ANTIQUE SHOW

Four centuries of antiques, decorative arts, and find arts exhibitors will show their wares at the Hillsborough Antique Show at the San Mateo County Event Center, 1346 Saratoga Drive, San Mateo. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors. Vehicle parking fee is $10. JIMMY BOSCH

Jazz and salsa musician and entertainer will perform Friday, Nov. 1 at Club Fox, 2209 Broadway St., Redwood City. Doors open at 8 p.m. for salsa dance lessons; Bosch performs at 10 p.m. Admission is $25 for the first 100 guests, $30 for guest arriving later. Guests should be 21 or older. SAN MATEO FARMERS’ MARKET

Look for fresh-from-the-fields fruits and vegetables from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 in the College of San Mateo parking lot, 1700 W. Hillsdale Blvd., San Mateo. Admission is free.

 

HEALTH INSURANCE INFORMATION

Assemblyman Paul Fong, (D-Cupertino) and Campbell Mayor Evan Low are hosting an informational event focusing on how to navigate California’s new “health insurance marketplace” and sign up for insurance under the federal Affordable Care Act. The event is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 in the Community Room at the West Valley Branch Library, 1243 San Tomas Aquino Road, San Jose. BELMONT FARMERS MARKET

AN AFTERNOON WITH AUTHOR BILL PETROCELLI

Bay Area author Bill Petrocelli will talk about his first novel “The Circle of Thirteen” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Belmont Library, 1110 Alameda de Las Pulgas. Admission is free.
