FREE; Affordable Books at the Book Nook: Located at #1 Cottage Lane, Twin Pines Park, Belmont.  Paperbacks are 3/$1. Trade paperbacks are $1.  Hardbacks are $2 and up. Reel to Real Film Nights: Mon Oncle

All day; Belmont Library, 1110 Alameda de Las Pulgas, Belmont

FREE; We’ll be screening and discussing Mon Oncle by Jacque Tati, a French filmmaker. Throughout his long career Tati worked as a comic actor, writer, and director. Mon Oncle won that year's Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, a Special Prize at Cannes, as well as the New York Film Critics Award. Yet, it is not widely circulated. Help us fulfill our mission to give deserving films a second chance. Free popcorn, too!

FREE; Join us for refreshments - served all day, a blowout book sale from the Friends of the Belmont Library and a jazz concert at 3:00 pm.

 

Kidz Love Soccer: Tot Soccer

9:00 am; Cipriani Elementary School, 2525 Buena Vista Ave, Belmont

For 30 years Kidz Love Soccer has been dedicated to teaching kids this popular game in a nuturing environment. They are committed to instilling skillful confidence in your young player. Tots Soccer is for kids age 3.5 to 4 years old. For more information contact the Belmont Parks and Recreation Department.

 

Pharmaceutical Take-Back Day

10:00 am; San Carlos Library, 610 Elm St, San Carlos

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Dept. and San Carlos Green are holding a Pharmaceutical Take-Back Day.  Clean out your medicine cabinet of all unwanted pills.  Dump your pills in a zip lock bag and bring them to the San Carlos Library Parking Lot on Saturday, April 27th from 10-2.  A member of the sheriff's department will be there to accept controlled substances.  Please recycle your pill containers in your blue bin at home.  Any questions, contact Pat Potter at pat@sancarlosgreen.org.

Farmer's Market

9am - 1pm; Belmont Caltrain Station, 995 El Camino Real, Belmont

The Belmont Farmer's Market is held every Sunday from 9am to 1pm at the south end of the Caltrain parking lot.

 

Author Event - Steph Cha

3:00 pm; Belmont Library, 1110 Alameda de Las Pulgas, Belmont

Steph Cha will read from Follow Her Home, a stunning, edgy debut introducing Juniper Song, an amateur sleuth taking on the darkness in the veins of L.A. with razor-sharp wit. “Cha’s debut updates Marlowe’s dark and dangerous LA to modern times while keeping the quirky characters and a twisty mystery that will hold readers to the bitter end.” –Kirkus

A wine and cheese reception will precede the event, courtesy of the Friends of the Belmont Library and a book selling and signing will follow the event, courtesy of Books Inc.
