Volunteers Needed for Water Dog Lake Trail Work

Parks and Recreation Commissioner Kevin Sullivan invites residents to help maintain local trails.

By Kevin Sullivan, Parks and Recreation Commissioner

Come help us improve Belmont's beautiful open space areas!

We have posted additional dates for trail work in the Waterdog Lake open space areas. We will be continuing to work on the Lake Loop Trail build and we will also be adding days to conduct maintenance on the existing trails. The lake loop trail is designed to be Family Friendly and suitable for novice dirt bike riders.

Weekend dates on the schedule will be devoted to continuing the work to complete this trail around the lake. We will meet at 9 a.m. at the gate at Lake and Lyall and plan to work until about 1 p.m. Eat a hearty breakfast and bring a snack or sandwich to keep you going.

We are also adding evening dates from 6 p.m. to about 8 p.m. since we have daylight. These are great opportunities to do some great work with a shorter time commitment.

These evenings will be concentrating on cutting back brush and performing maintenance on the existing trails to keep them safe and usable for all park users. Start locations will vary depending on what section of trail we will be working so please leave a comment here or e-mail Kevin to find the location on these.

If you run, ride, walk or bring your dog out on the trails with any regularity, we'd love you to devote a bit of your time to help us keep this park a wonderful place to visit. All of the maintenance in this park is done by volunteers and WE NEED YOU!

Thanks and we'll see you out there!
