Say 'Thank You' to Mother Earth This Saturday at Twin Pines Park

A variety of events coinciding with Earth Day will take place at Twin Pines Park on April 20.

The City of Belmont and community organizations will kick off Earth Day 2013 with activities for all ages in Twin Pines Park this Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon.

Activities ranging from creek cleanup, making recycled crafts, resource booths, prizes, and recycling opportunities will give everyone an opportunity to participate in this annual earth-appreciation day.

Several recycling stations will be available for E-waste, document shredding, household battery drop-off, and compost give-away. Additionally, Belmont Library will be present to accept gently used books for reuse.

After dropping off your items for recycling, be sure to stop by the Meadow and visit the participating booths for environmentally friendly information, activities, fun and prizes:

-Bay Area Air Quality District-Clean air resources
-Be The Street-Youth anti-littering photo fun station
-Belmont Library-Recycling drop-off for gently used books and other resourceful information.
-Belmont Parks and Recreation-Involvement opportunities, native plants
-Belmont Public Works-Household battery drop-off, Water pollution prevention, Hazardous Household Waste, Reusable bag give-away, children’s activity books, prize wheel and more!
-California Public Utilities Commission- Energy rebates, energy and water conservation tips.
-Emco-Renewable Energy
-Habitat for Humanity ReStore- Landfill alternatives -building materials & home improvement items
-Mid-Peninsula Water District-Water conservation resources
-NDNU Bonner Leaders- The Million Tree Project information and participation
PG & E Energy efficient information
-Recycle Works-Recycling information
-Sustainable San Mateo County-Sustainable resources
-Voices-(All ages)-Participate in making recycled crafts
