Rain to Let Up Later This Week

Tuesday's rain will last through the evening, but skies will be clear for the remainder of the week.

Tuesday's rainfall will be the least of Belmont residents' worries, as the remainder of the week will likely see clear skies, according to the National Weather Service.

So far in San Mateo County, San Francisco International Airport has seen the most rainfall Tuesday afternoon.

"Right now, SFO is getting some heavy rain out there," said National Weather Service forecaster Steve Anderson. "So far, it looks to be a quarter of an inch, close to three tenths of an inch."

This past week, temperatures reached the 90s in cities including Belmont and Palo Alto, and Anderson reiterated that Tuesday's stormy weather is more of an aberration than a building trend.

"It'll continue through this afternoon, into this evening," Anderson said. "The heaviest rain is coming through right now, and it should be more scattered in nature throughout this evening."

"The rest of the week will be dry," Anderson added. "It will be warming up so by Saturday and Sunday, it should be back in the 90's."

Last week, Belmont saw highs of 93 and 91 degrees on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Temperatures of 71 and 78 degrees are forecasted for the next two days, and mid-80s to 90s by the weekend.

Independence Day is expected to reach highs of 81 to 84 degrees.
