It was a gorgeous weekend in and around Belmont, and there were tons of fun things to do---from  to trail hiking in the canyon, 5K fun run, and even a few lingering  events.

I took my 4-year-old niece and nephew to ETC's production of ," at --a modern spin on the classic tale of the ugly duckling.

"Honk" featured some outstanding performances by Danielle Brewer and her family. Some of you may remember Danielle from her days as a recreation supervisor for the .

I too went to HONK! with my sons. What a great time! My sons loved the costumes and music. What a great story, too. Also, I brushed elbows with the most famous American male marathon runner in the USA on Sawyer Camp Trail. This tall blonde guy comes cruising by us sprinting at the end of the 8 mile loop....I turned to my husband and say, I think that is Ryan Hall, the Olympic Marathoner. Sure enough, I chatted with Ryan. He is super friendly, and I think taken back that someone would recognize him. He will be running in the marathon in the Olympics this summer in London. He came in 10th in 2008 Olympics in Beijing. He said only 100 days to go until the Olympics and seemed pumped. Ryan Hall is graduate of Stanford 2006 and has the record for the fastest marathon in the US. He said his favorite place to train is Sawyer Camp Trail....So if you walk/jog on the trail, be on the lookout for a tall, skinny, blonde haired and bearded 29 year old...He is favored to win an Olympic medal in the marathon this summer!!!

Wow! Thanks Mary Beth....I had no idea Ryan Hall trained at Sawyer Camp Road! As good as "HONK!" was, I'd say an Olympian sighting takes the cake for your weekend. Would love to get a photo of Hall on SCR, so if you ever see him again, try to get a shot and we'll post it!
