'62 Corvettes Converge to Celebrate 50 Years of Cool

A convoy of Corvettes will cruise down State Route 1 this week enroute to San Diego for a national convention. Do you remember the names of the Corvette adventurers from the 60's show "Route 66"? Tell us in the comments.

Kent Muhlker of Belmont and Steve Oshita of San Carlos hit the road today in Kent's 1962 Corvette to join other Corvette enthusiasts for the 2012 NCRS National Convention in San Diego. The convention will highlight the 50th anniversary of the '62 Corvette.

The pair will travel down State Route 1 and will be joine Corvettes along the way forming a hundreds-strong convoy as they converge on San Diego on Saturday.

According to the NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society), the 1962 model was so unique, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed its last day of production in 1962 as "America's Sports Car Day."
