Four Bay Area Chapters of the California Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, including the San Mateo and Santa Clara county chapters, staged a lie-in on Saturday morning to honor the memory of the Newtown victims and send a message to elected officials that, according to a Pleasant Hill Patch blog posting, “Enough is Enough – the Carnage Must End!”
"We will not let Congress, the President, and all elected officials off the hook yet again and this story will not 'die' until they make some serious changes in our gun laws," said a representative of the Contra Costa chapter in her blog.
The "lie in" consisted of people lying down one by one, silent and all in black, to represent those killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. Names of the Newtown victims and other shooting victims were read as a bell tolled for each victim.
