Play Opening- Wonderland

It's a new tale in an old world. Wonderland has grown since Alice Liddell left. It has grown darker, the Mad Hatter has long since  passed, and the whole of Wonderland is threatened by the Red King of the chess kingdom, who wants to win The Game once and for all. The play Wonderland is about Alice Liddell's great-great- granddaughter, also named Alice. Young Alice is a jaded teenager without a mom, who insists on being called Allie because she hates the name Alice so much. Alice has a less than perfect life, with a dead mother, a father who treats her like a waste of space, and an abusive boyfriend. She doesn't understand love and doesn't think she's worthy of it, sick to death of the story of Alice in Wonderland. But when everyone in her world is put to sleep, she must travel to Wonderland, where the Red King has taken over. The suit of Hearts has fallen, Spades and Clubs are prisoners, and Diamonds are hiding in their palace of diamonds from the red chess pieces that can now move off the board. Alice meets a mysterious boy in a top hat, a wild and vicious Cheshire, and whimsical flowers who help remind her who she is.
