The 13 members of the team, selected from five different regular season Little League Majors teams, continued the recent success of the league in allstar play.  BRSLL has seen a resurgence of talent from the Belmont-Redwood Shores community for the past several years and this group of allstar players proved that this trend would continue.  Led by Manager Tom McGuire and Coaches Greg Carbullido and Joe McCabe, the team bonded quickly and proved ready for elite level competition.

Several members of this team played together last season on the 9-10 allstar team where they competed successfully, ultimately ending just short of the championship game.  So the boys selected for this year’s squad came ready to work hard and the results have been amazing and they have earned this opportunity to play for a championship.

Please come out and root for your local team as they play in the championship tonight.  First pitch is at 5:30pm.

Summary of games:

·         6-29-2013 vs. Alpine-West Menlo: The bats came ready to swing as BRSLL came out with an impressive 11-1 opening round mercy-rule victory.

·         6-30-2013 vs. San Mateo American: BRSLL drew the same team that ended their tournament last year.  It was a very tight game, but the boys suffered another defeat to their rivals in an 11-10 loss.  Both teams went through several pitchers during the slugfest, putting BRSLL into a challenging run with a game the following day in the elimination round Loser’s Bracket.

·         7-1-2013 vs. Redwood City West: Playing their third game in three days with several pitchers out due to Little League pitch-count rules, BRSLL dug deep and started what turned out to be an amazing run through the Loser’s Bracket.  BRSLL got a 10-0 mercy rule victory followed by some well earned rest for the 4th of July holiday.

·         7-5-2013 vs. Palo Alto American:  In a game between two teams that both had a good run in the District 52 allstar playoffs last year, BRSLL’s bats were hot.  The boys crushed three home runs and came out victorious via an 11-1 mercy rule win.

·         7-6-2013 vs. Foster City: In a game with the finalist from last year’s 9-10 tournament (and a team which defeated BRSLL last year), the BRSLL boys showed how much they have improved with a 10-0 mercy rule victory.

·         7-7-2013 vs. Menlo Atherton: In a semi-final game against a very strong Menlo Atherton team with deep pitching, BRSLL played a near flawless game and came out with a 4-0 win.  This concluded a 35-1 run through the loser’s bracket and gave BRSLL a game with Hillsborough, the loser of the winner’s bracket championship game.

·         7-8-2013 vs. Hillsborough: In a tight game where two swings of the bat (both home runs) provided Hillsborough with five runs, BRSLL battled back for the hard-fought 6-5 victory.  A very large pro-BRSLL crowd cheered the boys on.

Should BRSLL be successful tonight against Pacifica American in the championship round, they will force a winner-take-all final game on Wednesday for the District 52 crown.  Please come support the boys and show your community
